Fertility
1 in 6 couples have trouble having a baby. So much emphasis is placed on delaying children until you’re ready. But what happens when children don’t come so easily?
There are multiple factors at play in fertility. If conception doesn’t occur within 12 months of actively trying to have a child a couple are labeled infertile. This happens in 6 months if the woman is 35 years of age or older. There are three main sources of infertility.
Male
Male causes of infertility include the absence of sperm, the quality of sperm, and the inability of sperm to leave the man in order to create conception.
Combined
Couples are often faced with infertility due to each partner having conditions that can lead to infertility.
Female
Female causes of infertility can include the absence of eggs, the quality of the eggs, anovulation, the blockage of sperm to meet the egg and the inability of the egg to arrive and survive in the uterus.
